Matt and I worked outside today...as I worked on the weeds and the pruning, he announced he was building a community center and planting popcorn flowers "and other food plants." Now that's what I call sustainability.

The finished guest room. Jim and subcontractor Uncle Kreamo hung a new set of mirrors and Jim hauled up the end tables from the basement. Add a rug and voila! Less junky, more inviting and funky.
The fireplace had a big ugly device ("heatilator," Uncle Kreamo called it) that was supposed to circulate heat from a fire. All it did was blow soot, from the looks of the hearth, and drive me NUTS. It turned out to be a little more work than anticipated to take the whole filthy thing out. It involved a hammer, a screwdriver, scissors and a flashlight. But now the living room is irritation-free.

Las Vegas is celebrating the Lunar New Year (and attracting tourists) with displays dedicated to the new year.
The Palazzo featured a golden ox; appropriate as the ox is a prosperity sign. Who couldn't use a little prosperity?
